Company History The Medalcraft Mint Inc.
The Medalcraft Mint began as a machine shopin Kewaunee, Wisconsin in 1948. Thebusiness was located in an old blacksmithing shop and was originally known asWest Shore Manufacturing Company. Twoentrepreneurs, Orlo Christensen and Gordon Thorson founded the company and theearly focus tended to be experimental rather than production-oriented. Early “product lines” included fiberglassboats and juvenile furniture. In time,the two began to experiment with metalworking, and the addition of an old pressled them into the business of “minting”, turning out medals and otherdie-struck products.Medalcraft公司最初只是1948年创立于美国威斯康辛州的一个机器作坊，最初的地址是在一个老铁匠铺，名为南岸制造公司。两位企业家奥莱，克里斯滕森和高登索尔森一起创立了这家公司，产品主要是船用的玻璃纤维和一些家具产品。两位创始者利用手头的压制机械，尝试做一些金属压制产品，逐步发展出了模具压制工艺。 In 1971 Mr. Thorson passed away, and TomTadych was hired to become the company’s manager. Tom purchased half the company stock from Mr. Thorson’swidow. Tom Tadych bought the remaining stock in thecompany and moved the operation into a 4,600 sq. ft. building in GreenBay. A line of stock award medals was developedand sold through the trophy dealer industry. Business began to flourish, and significant growth came each year. Highly skilled craftsmen were hired and moresophisticated equipment was added. Medalcraft won the prestigious contracts forthe Official Inaugural Medallions, including the first and second inaugurationsfor George W. Bush and the 1st term for Barack Obama.
